CHARACTER NAME;; Viral
CHARACTER JOURNAL;;
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
CHARACTER AGE;; unknown, but he looks to be about 16 to his early 20’s maybe?
FANDOM;; Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
TIMELINE;; episode 3, after he retreats from his second fight with Kamina.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE;;
Viral is tall and quite thin, in comparison to a human without his shirt he appears malnourished though quite well-toned. He’s got short blonde hair that appears well groomed yet cut in a mangy sort of way. He’s always found in his red soldiers get up complete with his large meat cleaver strapped to his lower back.
ABILITIES;;
He’s very fast, observant, and flexible, he’s seen dodging a sniper bullet shot from a cliffside a great distance away from him. He fights with a meat cleaver of sorts for hand to hand combat. He is also capable of piloting a battle mech known as a Ganmen. He pilots a custom made model he refers to as Enki.
STRENGTH/WEAKNESS;;
While he’s a bit above average in speed and flexibility when it comes to normal humans, he wouldn’t be able to hold out very long against anyone with supernatural skills in hand to hand combat. His strength is in piloting his Ganman which (despite his frequent loses) he is quite skilled at.
PERSONALITY;;
Viral is a soldier first and foremost. He’s been trained militantly and upholds the strict ways in which he’s been taught. He keeps himself well groomed and adheres to a strict schedule, even if it means he has to leave in the middle of a fight. He skilled in battle tactics and follows them religiously, even if it means retreating. His militant upbringing shows socially as well. He’s serious, and doesn’t take well to jokes (sarcasm on the other hand is totally fair game). He knows how to handle himself when regarding an enemy, a lower class soldier, or someone of a higher rank, but casually would be a bit of an awkward spot for him.
He’s also got a rather odd sense of honor. When he fights Kamina for the second time he loses the fight as well as the ‘crested helmet’ placed on his Ganmen as he is one of the top soldiers of the Capital. Until the timeskip at the end of the arc Viral obsessively hunts down Gurren Lagann in a vain effort to reclaim the helmet as well as his honor. But despite how desperately he wants his honor back he will not try any sort of underhanded tricks to do so. When he encounters the Gurren Brigade, all completely naked, he challenges them, but demands that they get dressed beforehand. During another encounter when a commanding officer demands he keeps a member of the Gurren Brigade hostage, which he ultimately refuses because it’s not an honorable tactic, ultimately costing him and the commander the battle. Though by no means is he merciful, should someone challenge him and not flee, he will not hesitate to kill his opponent.
HISTORY;;
Viral is a member of the army of the Spiral King, as the commander of the far East Human Eradication Forces, As a member of this army it is his job to exterminate any humans who settle above ground by decree of the Spiral King. Viral has exterminated so many of these villages that he actually admits forgetting the names of many of them, showing just how common practice it is.
Lord Genome, the Spiral King, was also the one who created the ‘beastmen’, creatures like Viral, through an advanced ‘cloning’ process, though beastmen seem to vary in shape and size like everyday animals (so it’s doubtful there is an army of Virals on backup in a laboratory somewhere). Viral seems to somehow be a cat-shark hybrid, though he is most likely closer to the cat family since he first works under the land-based General Thymilph, who resembles an ape. There’s also General Adiane, a scorpion woman who commands a water fleet, General Guame, an armadillo who commands an underground army, and Cytomander a
Everything seems well and good, until one very unfortunate day for Viral. The day he met Kamina. It was a chance encounter, Viral had been sent due to a report of a human stealing a Ganmen (that Kamina affectionately named Lagann), while hunting both he and Kamina had unknowingly shot down the same target and Viral attacked as soon as he laid eyes on Kamina seeing as he was human
He returns the next day, where Kamina and Shimon are waiting for him. Once again the battle seems to be in Viral’s favor, until Kamina does something completely moronic an illogical. In an attempt to mimic Enki’s crested helmet Kamina takes Gurren and sticks it on top of Lagann. After a brief pause to just revel in Kamina’s sheer stupidity, accompanied by a snide remark, something completely illogical happens (thus setting the premise for the rest of the series). Gurren and Lagann actually fuse together into a much more powerful Ganmen. The tables quickly turn and Kamina and Shimon gain the upper hand, taking Viral’s prized helmet and forcing him to retreat, thus beginning Viral’s obsessive pursuit to reclaim his honor.
SAMPLE JOURNAL POST (Remember, in FIRST PERSON)
Viral sighed looking out over the marsh-like landscape and all the life it held. It was relaxing to say the least. He always found himself far more at peace outside rather than in the capital or even General Thymilph’s ship. Perhaps he just felt more efficient hunting his own food and living outside, it wouldn’t be surprising considering his species.
He caught sight of a flock of birds flying by, he quickly readied his arrow. Despite it being inefficient in combat, he found it was just enough to kill his prey and quiet enough not to disturb the rest of the nearby animals. His shot was dead-on as usual, but something wasn’t right. The way it jerked before it fell, it had to have been hit by some other force, something with more power then his bow. Perhaps a gun? But a gun would have echoed throughout the canyon. He stealthfully ran to where his prey had fallen, and just as he thought. Two arrows protruded from the creatures gut. He decided to remain hidden in the tall grass, and knocked a new arrow to his bow and pulled the string back tight, ready to let it loose should an enemy make itself known. If it wasn’t an enemy however, he was still prepared to give a fellow soldier a scare, served him right for being so careless, especially in this quadroon, where the humans were known to be very hostile.
A stick snapped and a tall blue-haired figure emerged and unsuspectingly picked up the fallen animal. A human. And a foolish one at that. Viral smirked, this was going to be a quick and simple task. He raised to bow and let the arrow fly.
SAMPLE RP POST;; (Remember, in THIRD PERSON)
[A very scowly blond comes on the feed. His yellow eyes darting around almost nervously at every little sound around him, however his face shows no sign of fear, just irritation.]
Alright whichever one of you mutts thought it would be funny to move your commander while sleeping better speak up. First you will tell me who you are, name then rank. Then you will tell me where you are in relation to me. Then you will pray that I leave you in one piece while I report your childish action the General Thymilph, though you will probably be praying in vain.
[he snarls and draws his cleaver from it’s sheath on his back and slams it into the robot he’s sitting on, which had suddenly began squirming. Well, his cleaver certainly took care of that]
On second thought, before I kill you, you will tell me who the hell is piloting these obnoxious miniature Ganmen. I need to report to the commanding officer here that whatever operation they are trying to run is faulty.
